Meet Maren – Artist, Educator, Creative Guide

Art has always been more than a passion—it’s been a therapeutic outlet and a lifelong companion. Growing up just outside Philadelphia, I was surrounded by nature, murals, architecture, and a rich cultural landscape that shaped my artistic spirit from a young age. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Arizona State University and later pursued studies in Art Therapy, which continues to influence my teaching approach today. My classes are not only creative, they’re deeply rooted in personal growth, self-expression, and the healing power of art. In 2013, after becoming a mom and craving meaningful adult interaction, I discovered a new path—teaching art in fun, relaxed settings. It was the perfect fit. For the past 12 years, I have taught painting and art classes/events across Southern California, working with students and adults of all ages and backgrounds from around the world. From children and families to adults rediscovering their creativity, I bring a unique spark that keeps all my learners engaged and inspired. I believe that everyone has a creative side waiting to be unlocked—and teaching art is my superpower!
